Blue Jays broadcaster Tom Cheek died of brain cancer today at the age of 66. Cheek was in the booth for every single Blue Jays game that was ever played until June 3, 2004, when his father passed away. That's 27 1/2 years of baseball.
As far as I can recall, the famous "Touch 'em all Joe" is the only time I ever heard Cheek. But that was certainly quite a call.
From Jays president Paul Godfrey:
"He was far more than just an outstanding announcer though. He was a great goodwill ambassador for baseball in Canada. His love for the game, which radiated through his words on the radio, captivated fans across this country and helped to grow the sport from one coast to the other."
