You know, if you happen upon this site as a Blue Jays fan (or a fan of any other team), feel more than welcome to register an account and jump into the gameday discussions when the O's play your team, or any other time for that matter. It never hurts to have more discussion, and I think it's interesting to hear from the opposition's side on things like "blown calls" or bad strike zones or whatever.
Bedard has been a bit Jekyll & Hyde through three starts: 7 IP, 1 ER against Oakland; 5 IP, 1 ER but had a hell of a time against the Devil Rays; 4.2 IP, 8 ER against the Tigers. What Bedard do we get? The high pitch count, struggling Bedard that we've seen the last two starts, where he runs the risk of being shelled, or the efficient, dominant Bedard that we saw against the A's?
Bush has been quite similar, really. 5 IP, 3 ER against Boston; 7 IP, 2 ER against the A's; 2 IP, 7 ER in his last outing against the Red Sox.
So we know both of these guys can shut Oakland down. That's a start.
They were also both born in 1979. Bedard is Canadian. While Bush is from Pittsburgh originally, he is a member of the only Canadian team left in the majors. They would both help themselves with a good outing after disastrous starts their last times out.
Unexpected pitcher's duel? That's my guess. Game time is 1:07.
