Tim Wakefield, RH Rodrigo Lopez, RH (8-6, 3.98) (7-5, 4.72)
Who's your daddy? Rafael Palmeiro. And hey, back in second place.
Game time is 1:05 on WJZ and NESN.
Lopez has been rocky of late, including his last start which was a disaster at Yankee Stadium. Prior to that, he did have a nice start in a tough loss to the Indians, but wasn't too effective his two previous starts. Roddy's been up and down all year, like most of our starters.
Wakefield is Wakefield. Throws a knuckler. He has won four straight decisions (and threw seven shutout innings in a no-decision against the Pirates in the same stretch) after losing five in a row before that.
Three hits until 3,000 for Raffy. Maybe today? He's got a very poor career line against Wakefield: .164/.319/.364 in 55 at-bats, but does have three homers in his nine hits and 13 walks. It looks like he'll get it on the road after the break.
