Mike Mussina, RH Bruce Chen, LH (13-8, 4.20) (12-10, 3.60)
Game time is 7:05 on CSN and YES.
O's have lost nine in a row. Yanks have won eight of their last ten. For the record, it is still mathematically possible for the Orioles to finish in last place. With six games to go for both teams, they are five ahead of the Devil Rays. The O's would have to lose out and the Rays would have to win out. Stranger things have happened.
Boston has a double-header against Toronto today following a rainout yesterday. They're a half-game behind New York. Wakefield is starting one of those games, and I wanted to make note that with 15 wins this season, Tim Wakefield is now third all-time in Red Sox history in wins at 129. He jumped over Bob Stanley (115), Pedro Martinez and Joe Wood (117), Luis Tiant (122) and Mel Parnell (123) this season. Odd, huh? Roger Clemens and Cy Young both won 192 games for the Red Sox.
But enough about that. I don't want to dissect this matchup, but I have six words I want to make clear:
KILL MIKE MUSSINA
LET'S GO O'S
