Santana took every single one of the thirteen first-place votes, a clean sweep in the voting and the unanimous 2006 CC.com American League Cy Young award winner.
The Twins ace went 19-6, leading the AL in ERA at 2.77, with a 1.00 WHIP, .216 BAA, and 245 strikeouts in 233 2/3 innings. His park-adjusted ERA+ was 161, 14 points better than the next-best qualified AL starter, which was Roy Halladay. Toronto's Halladay finished a distant second in the voting, followed by New York's Chien-Ming Wang.
2005 Winner: Roger Clemens, Houston
Talk about your close results. The CC.com NL Cy Young award came down to three men: Webb, Chris Carpenter and Roy Oswalt. Webb finished with 41 points in the voting, and Carpenter and Oswalt tied for second with 40.
