Site maintenance on Friday night

Just an early heads up -- the SBN sites will be down for server maintenance from (roughly) 11pm to 3am on Friday night.

Also, the Cubs and Ted Lilly have come to an agreement on a four-year, $40 million contract. I really wish we could've made a play for Lilly, but there is no way Angelos was going to give Terrible Ted 40 million bones.

The A's signed Mike Piazza to replace Frank Thomas for one year and $8.5 million, and have signed Alan Embree.

Jason Schmidt is nearing a deal with the Dodgers at three years, $47 million. LA signed Mike Lieberthal to a one-year deal as a backup to Russell Martin.

Joe Borowski signed with the Indians.

Andy Pettitte has decided to not retire, and will pitch in 2007, almost certainly either for the Astros or Yankees.

The Angels are using Jose Molina and Brendan Donnelly as trade bait.
