The Best the USA Has to Offer: Al Leiter and Gary Majewski

Two more players have dropped off of the USA's World Baseball Classic team: Billy Wagner and C.C. Sabathia. Replacing them are Gary Majewski and Al Leiter.

Gary Majewski was pretty good for the Expos last season (2.93/1.36, 50 K in 86 IP), but he's not Billy Wagner. C.C. Sabathia is generally overrated and should've been Roy Halladay in the first place, but Halladay declined, and now Sabathia is out, so the US team's tentative fourth starter is 40-year old Al Leiter.

Al Leiter, who posted a 6.13 ERA last year between the Marlins and Yankees. Clearly this is a competition among the world's best. I can't believe how poorly planned-out this whole thing has been.

That said, I'm looking forward to seeing some games, and I expect it'll be fun. I've officially decided that my rooting interests lie with Bruce Chen and the Panamaniacs.
