Gameday Thread: O's at Rangers, 08/31

Game Time: 8:05 | TV: WNUV, FSN Southwest | Radio: WBAL
Daniel Cabrera, RH Adam Eaton, RH (7-8, 4.63) (3-4, 5.17)

Way back last December, when the Rangers traded for Adam Eaton, I said, "Otsuka and Eaton are going to get hammered in Arlington. Eaton's a fly ball pitcher and Otsuka stunk on the road for San Diego last season. ... Young could really become a solid pitcher there. Good deal for the Padres if you ask me. 'T' for Texas, 'T' for Terrible Trade."

It's not like I was alone in my thinking, I remember most Ranger fans hated the deal. So there's Eaton, who again hasn't been healthy and when he has been, has sucked. Chris Young is 10-5 with a 3.66 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and .223 BAA with a solid K-rate in San Diego. I was wrong about Otsuka, who has been pretty much lights out as the Texas closer.

Eaton is just another Matt Clement type of guy that is never going to reach whatever potential he was supposed to have, and at this point, the potential is gone. This is what you get with Eaton. He'll probably have a year soon enough where he actually stays healthy and puts up decent numbers, but so did Jaret Wright. Peas in a pod, these people.

Let's not put Cabrera in that class, though. HE'S THE MAN. 800 CY YOUNGS.
