Cory Lidle, RH Erik Bedard, LH (11-9, 4.46) (12-9, 3.94)
Lidle is sort of like this year's Shawn Chacon, a middling NL starting pitcher brought over to help shore up the Yankees rotation, and he's done a good job of it. With Philly, Lidle was 8-7 with a 4.74 ERA and .271 BAA. As a Yankee, he's 3-2 with a 3.38 ERA and batters are hitting just .225 off of him. He faced us on August 16, at Yankee Stadium, and went six and a third with three earned.
Bedard's still looking for his first win since July 23. In his career against the Yankees, he's 1-3 with a 5.40 ERA, but he had a nice start against them earlier this season (6 IP, 1 ER).
As they have a nine-game lead on Boston, there isn't much we can do to derail the Yankees, really, but I'd still prefer stomping on their faces a little bit instead of allowing them more momentum. Let's go, O's!
