Why not? Why not just damn be optimistic? He's the first real, live positional prospect we've had in years, and he actually DELIVERED on the MAJOR LEAGUE LEVEL in his first run. It took him a while to adjust, but once he did, watch out. Markakis was perhaps the hottest hitter in baseball for a stretch this past summer, and it was the most fun *I* had watching the Orioles during the entirety of that festering turd of a season.
If he comes close to that line in his sophomore season, I'll be happy. I don't think he needs to drastically improve into a yearly All-Star type of guy in a hurry or anything. As long as he doesn't regress, it'll be good.
