Erik Bedard awesome, O's lose anyway

The O's lost 3-2 to the Red Sox today, but whatever. Erik Bedard pitched five innings, allowing one hit (a solo home run to Jason Varitek) and striking out eight. Both the O's and Sox are 11-10-2 in the Grapefruit League.

The O's also claimed pitcher Sean Tracey off waivers from the White Sox today. The official site says he'll be battling for the long relief spot with Guthrie, The Todd and Rob Bell, but Tracey is a longshot. He's a mediocre minor league veteran that walks too many guys.

I'm really excited about what Bedard could do this season. Not since Mike Mussina have we had a guy we could go into a season calling an ace -- Bedard is that guy.
