"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." -- Rogers Hornsby

"You always get a special kick on opening day, no matter how many you go through. You look forward to it like a birthday party when you're a kid. You think something wonderful is going to happen." -- Joe DiMaggio

"There is no sports event like Opening Day of baseball, the sense of beating back the forces of darkness and the National Football League." -- George Vecsey

I can't hold myself back from posting this any longer. Here we are. The 2007 season of Orioles baseball kicks off in Minneapolis, against a Twins team that beat us six out of nine times in 2006. We get a real test in the opener, to say the least. The best pitcher in baseball, the reigning AL MVP, and the reigning AL batting champ. Then again, past that, there's not a whole lot to talk about with the Twins. Torii Hunter? Torii Hunter.

This is also the kickoff for the third season of O's coverage here at Camden Chat, and I hope this'll be our best season yet, for the team and for the site.

I love Opening Day. It's my favorite day of the year, every year. What Christmas was to me when I was five is what Opening Day is to me now.

Bring the faith with you. Let's go, O's!
