S. Marcum - RH J. Guthrie
(2-2, 4.13) (2-1, 2.95)
A monumentous opportunity awaits our collection of batsmen tonight - the chance to win a series against a division rival and offer hope to the huddled masses of Orioles fans, yearning to root for an actual MLB team.
I've been watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy over the past few days, and am halfway through Two Towers. I haven't quite crafted an analogy from those movies that fits the O's, but give me time. I think it would be a bit much to compare Peter AngeLOSE to Sauron or Gollum to Sam Perlozzo, WME, but feel free to run with the metaphors.
Oh yeah, the pitchers. Guthrie's been great, and Marcum's been OK. I'm not thrilled with Miggy as cleanup, but as with the discussion about firing Sam, the question is this: Who's a better option? And, alas, the answer may well be "None."
Yet another softball game tonight (hopefully, this time, the other team actually shows up), so this is getting posted early. 2632's back in charge tomorrow, so enjoy the benevolent dictatorship today. God knows what tribute she'll demand tomorrow.
