Scouting Report:
Orioles: Guthrie was solid in his start on Thursday, but he picked up another no-decision due to continued problems in the Orioles' bullpen. He allowed three runs on seven hits over seven innings in a 5-4 loss to Toronto. Despite his well-pitched game overall, Guthrie said he was unhappy with specific pitches that he didn't control, such as a belt-high offering that Frank Thomas blasted over the left-field wall in the seventh inning. Nevertheless, Guthrie's 3.09 ERA and 1.89 walks per nine innings are still top marks among Orioles starters.
Royals: De La Rosa had his worst start of the season against the Indians on Thursday night, walking seven batters and allowing nine runs over 4 1/3 innings. He had problems with control all night and could find neither a consistent release point nor a consistent motion and didn't have good command with his fastball or changeup. De La Rosa has to have command and repeat his motion to be effective.
So, Let's Go O's!
