The sad thing is, when Hoey was first brought up from Norfolk he pitched REALLY well. I mean, 8-1/3 shutout innings against the likes of Boston, New York and Toronto is not exactly chopped liver.
Everyone's pissed. Everyone has a right to be. "Here we go again", etc. But my heart goes out to this poor kid, who was on top of the world a week ago.
This is a crappy little run we're on. Every team has them. Ours seem to have a little more drama than most, our losing streaks seem a little more ridiculous and other-worldly.
But this too shall pass. The Orioles will win again. It's likely, despite our rage and skepticism, that they'll beat the D-Rays tonight or tomorrow. Lost in the shuffle is that Good Danny showed up tonight, which is nice to see.
Go ahead, throw crap at your computer, the TV, whatever. But then hope that Hoey finds his mojo again. You think there isn't a shortage of good pitching in baseball? Christ, David f*ing Wells is pitching again, for the Dodgers. It's all well and good to say "just fix the bullpen!", but the fact is, if it was that easy, every team in the majors would have done it by now.
