Today's Starting Pitchers GS IP ERA WHIP BAA HR BB K W-L
Garrett Olson - LH 19 101.0 6.06 1.66 .305 14 42 58 8-6
Jeremy Sowers - LH 13 71.0 5.70 1.56 .296 13 26 40 1-6

Such a pitching matchup we have on hand tonight. Olson, bless his heart, has battled. You have to give him that. That eight and a third he threw against Seattle on August 1 might have hurt him in his August 6 start against the Angels. LAAofA tore him up for six earned in two and two-thirds. Or it might just be that he's inconsistent and not very good yet.

Sowers was the No. 6 overall pick in 2004 out of Vanderbilt, so he's a brainy fella. He was impressive in 14 starts when he came up in 2006, but has struggled since. It's always going to be tough for a guy with his K-rate to make it. This year's 5.25 K/9 is by far the best he's done in the majors as of yet. Sowers was born in West Virginia, went to high school in Louisville, college in Tennessee, and has been drafted by both Ohio teams. Lawd, he was bawn a ramblin' man.
