Orlando Gomez, who has spent 45 years in professional baseball, will be the field manager for the Shorebirds when they open the season on April 9. He has spent the last four years in the Orioles organization, last year managing the Bluefield Orioles to a 29-36 record, finishing third in the East Division of the Appalachian League....The only returning coach to Arthur W. Perdue Stadium this season will be field coach Ryan Minor. Last season was Minor's first year coaching in affiliated baseball. The Shorebirds batted .261 under his watch, third-best in the South Atlantic League.
