BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Orioles announced this afternoon that former designated hitter Harold Baines has been elected to the Orioles Hall of Fame. A native and current resident of St. Michael’s, Md., Baines spent all or parts of seven seasons in three separate stints with Baltimore from 1993-2000, batting .301 with 107 home runs and 378 RBI in 666 games for the Orioles. Baines, 50, spent 22 seasons in the major leagues from 1980-2001 and at the time of his retirement was baseball’s all-time leader in games played, hits, home runs and RBI as a designated hitter.
