Interleague play again. Aren't you excited? The Mets are in town. I love Mr. Met although I guess he doesn't go on the road with the team. When I was at Citi Field last summer I really wanted to get my picture taken with Mr. Met but sadly he didn't get close to our section the entire game.

Since interleague play began in 1997, the Orioles and Mets have played each other 22 times, the O's victorious in nine of them. The 2006 series featured two of my favorite moments. On June 17th, Kris Benson homered off of Pedro Martinez, which was awesome. Sure it wasn't Pedro's finest season overall, but Kris Benson! It was the only HR of his 385 career plate appearances. The second moment was the very next day when, with the Orioles going for the unlikely sweep of the first place Mets, Ed Rogers actually lost a ball inside his jersey (click all of those links, starting with Ed Rogers. You won't be sorry. And thanks to Uni Watch for the pics).

Jeremy Guthrie faces off against RA Dickey, who has made 4 starts for the Mets this season. Look, I'm not even going to pretend that I've been paying attention to the Mets. His numbers look pretty good. Let's hope Guts has a good game and Adam Jones keeps hitting. In his last 5 games, Jonesy is 6-for-19 (.316) with a double, a HR, and 3 walks. Those three walks represent over one-third of his walks on the entire year (he has 8).

Lineups:

Mets: Jose Reyes SS, Angel Pagan CF, David Wright 3B, Ike Davis 1B, Jason Bay LF, Chris Carter DH, Rod Barajas C, Jeff Francoeur RF, Ruben Tejada 2B

Orioles: Corey Patterson LF, Miguel Tejada 3B, Nick Markakis RF, Ty Wigginton 1B, Luke Scott DH, Adam Jones CF, Matt Wieters C, Scott Moore 2B, Cesar Izturis SS

Finally, the people who follow the Mets are just super curious about the Orioles. Duck participated in a Q&A with NetDugout.com about our crazy team, and I spoke with SNY.tv for a few minutes as well (and if you listen to that, I was kinda talking out of my backside about what the Orioles would want in a Guthrie trade. I hate when people ask me that kinda stuff. What do I know?).

Let's Go O's!
