Today was a typical day for the Orioles offense. Twelve hits, only one run. How many times have we seen something like that?
The good news: Nick Markakis had three hits, including two doubles. That gives him 31 on the year, or as many doubles as he has RBI. He continues to lead the league in doubles and is on pace for 55 on the year. Brian Roberts would be proud.
Adam Jones also had two singles, and he didn't strike out at all. Josh Bell's two hits gave him his first big league multi-hit game and his first big league hit off of a lefty.
The bad news: Brian Matusz got knocked around for the second straight start, lasting just 2.1 innings. Seeing him do poorly is maybe the saddest thing for me. Also sad is Felix Pie leaving four men on base and getting just one hit in five at bats. Only Miguel Tejada and Jake Fox left more on with five apiece.
Tomorrow the Rays come to town, so look for more of the same.
