Yesterday was a fun day of football for watching, not so much for pick 'em, I reckon. Rough day for Philadelphians all around, while things are looking up on our stretch of 95. The Warehouse continues to sun silent and deep.

On this day in 1974, Frank Robinson broke MLB's managerial color barrier when he was named manager of the Cleveland Indians.

In 1982, the Brewers snatched away the AL East crown from the O's on the last day of the season after having lost three straight to the Birds. The Orioles had been 8 games back as recently as August 13.

In 1986, a 6-3 loss to the Tigers guaranteed the O's their first last place finish since 1954.
