Rarely does the MVP awarded by the BBWAA go to someone on a losing or non-contending team. SBN writers don't care as much about that as they awarded the AL MVP to Jose Bautista and the NL MVP to Matt Kemp of the Dodgers. The Dodgers logged a winning season with an 82-79 record but were never really in the race. That was not because of Matt Kemp, who put up an fWAR of 8.7 while hitting .324/.399/.586. He led the NL in home runs and total bases.
