Community Projections 2011: Jake Arrieta & Chris Tillman

With my day off yesterday, I forgot to post the next round of projections. My bad! Since we were talking about Tillman vs. Arrieta in the comments of Bird Droppings yesterday, I thought we could tackle them next. And stay tuned for a post this evening with a summary of all of the infielders projections.

Arrieta debuted last season and made eighteen starts, finishing strong under his new manager. But he certainly had his ups and downs. Prior to being called up, Arrieta made 12 starts at AAA for the Tides. Here are his stats over the last three years:

Year Age Tm Lg ERA G IP HR BB SO WHIP
2010 24 BAL AL 4.66 18 100.1 9 48 52 1.535
Year Age Tm Lev ERA G IP HR BB SO WHIP
2008 22 Frederick A+ 2.87 20 113.0 7 51 120 1.159
2009 23 2 Teams AAA-AA 3.40 28 150.2 13 56 148 1.314
2009 23 Bowie AA 2.59 11 59.0 4 23 70 1.153
2009 23 Norfolk AAA 3.93 17 91.2 9 33 78 1.418
2010 24 Norfolk AAA 1.85 12 73.0 3 34 64 1.123
3 Seasons 2.89 60 336.2 23 141 332 1.221

Chris Tillman has more major league experience than Jake Arrieta, but is younger and spent much of last year being shuttled between the Orioles and AAA Norfolk. Here are his stats over the last three years:

Year Age Tm Lg ERA G IP HR BB SO WHIP
2009 21 BAL AL 5.40 12 65.0 15 24 39 1.554
2010 22 BAL AL 5.87 11 53.2 9 31 31 1.528
2 Seasons 5.61 23 118.2 24 55 70 1.542
Year Age Tm Lev ERA G IP HR BB SO WHIP
2008 20 Bowie AA 3.18 28 135.2 10 65 154 1.327
2009 21 Norfolk AAA 2.70 18 96.2 5 26 99 1.148
2010 22 Norfolk AAA 3.34 21 121.1 10 30 94 1.236
5 Seasons 3.69 105 520.0 42 202 531 1.335
