Guthrie rocks Twitter, hopes to be back to work soon

With the influx of professional athletes and celebrities on Twitter, I often discover that I like someone more than I thought I would based on what they decide to tell the world. Of course, it goes the other way, as some athletes who I really liked prior to their debut on Twitter actually just get on my nerves.

Jeremy Guthrie, thankfully, falls into the first group. I already liked Guts a lot, of course, but his tweets are just goofy enough that I'm enjoying his personality more than I thought I would.

As you know, Guthrie has been in the hospital for a few days with pneumonia and will be missing his start this evening. After being admitted to the hospital, Guthrie tweeted on Monday:

Initially thought I had BieberFever but turns out I have pneumonia.Feeling better but got myself an overnight stay at hospital.Go #Orioles.

Just a few minutes ago he gave the world this gem:

I woke up this morning feeling like P-Diddy, need another blood test and then hopefully I can hit the Charm City!

It's good to see that his illness hasn't sapped his sense of humor, dorky as it may be. It'll be fantastic if he only has to miss one start and is back on the mound this weekend against the Rangers.

Edit (12:15 p.m.)

Guthrie is out of the hospital! I would assume we'll know in the next few days if he'll pitch on Sunday.

I'm free! On my way out of hospital&on the road to recovery. Special thanx to the nurses, doctors&my sweet wife. Thanks for your prayers.
