From the Orioles:
The Orioles today announced that they have activated SS J.J. HARDY from the 15-day disabled list. Hardy was placed on the DL on April 13, retroactive to April 10, with a strained left oblique.
Hardy has batted .200 (3-15) with three doubles and two RBI in six games for the Orioles.
To make room for Hardy on the roster, the Orioles have designated RHP JOSH RUPE for assignment. Rupe posted a 5.65 ERA (14.1IP, 16H, 9ER) in nine appearances for Baltimore.
With today’s moves the Orioles currently have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
If Rupe clears waivers I imagine he'll be sent back to Norfolk. He really lived up to what his name rhymes with while in Baltimore. This of course means that Cesar Izturis will not be given the heave ho that so many were hoping for. Another move will need to be made when Matusz returns and if the Orioles opt to send Bergesen or Tillman to the bullpen rather than demote them, Izzy could still be on the chopping block.
