From Jeff Zrebiec on Twitter:

To make room for matusz, the #orioles have designated jake fox for assignment. No at-bats for fox with d.lee close to return.

Fox is out of minor league options, so the only way he'll remain in the O's system is if nobody claims him on waivers. Fox hasn't been getting many ABs lately and it was obvious he wasn't long for the team.

Britt Ghiroli added this:

Orioles will try to work out a trade, since fox probably wont clear waivers. Said he has no interest in playing in the Minors.

It's hard to imagine that there will be much of a trade market, especially with this information out there, but it looks like Fox's days in the organization are over.

This of course means the bench is short again, since it was assumed that either Pedro Viola or Chris Jakubauskas would be sent packing upon Brian Matusz's return.

I can't say I'm sorry to see Fox go, he simply couldn't hit and he wasn't very good at any one position in the field. Spring Training home runs aside, this guy really didn't have much going for him this season. Best of luck to him, he seems like a nice enough fella. But I'm happy he's not on my team any longer.
