Red Sox 4, Orioles 0: Shut out by John Lackey and company

If this picture doesn't make you want to punch someone in the face, then you are either dead, or you are a bandwagoning douchebag.

Going into today's game, Red Sox starter John Lackey had a 7.47 ERA. He had gone at least six innings in only four of his thirteen starts. His WHIP was 1.63. In today's game, Lackey pitched 6.2 innings, gave up three hits and one walk. In all the Orioles only managed four hits on the night. None of those hits were for extra bases. It was only the second time all year that Lackey allowed no earned runs.

The Red Sox had 17 at-bats with runners in scoring position.

Some other stuff happened but it's late and I don't care. This offense is pathetic. With Zach Britton's demotion to make room on the roster for Mark Hendrickson (it really hurts me to type that), the rotation is a total shambles. The Orioles cannot hit for average, hit for power, get on base, run or field. They also can't pitch, although giving up "only" four runs in the game means their atrocious staff ERA of 4.73 entering tonight will be slightly lowered.

The team sucks and I won't be sad to see the All-Star Break and have three blessed days of no Orioles. That's what I say now, but on Monday I'll probably be saying, "Man, I'd rather have crappy Orioles baseball than watch the Home Run Derby."
