Dear Journal:
‘Twas a frightful night here on the farm. The cows were a might spooked by all the rainin' and blowin'. I though poor ol' Jess just might burst her udder, she was so afraid.
The fancy new talking picture box Paw bought kept tellin' us to stay inside, but only a fool or a city boy would go out in rain like that. But they kept saying things like "curfew" and "power outages" and "state of emergency", and well, I don't fill my simple head with big words like that.
The local boys say they're still playin' their games today, and the talking picture box is gonna show 'em. Don't that beat all! Both games, too!
Well, I'd get back to mendin' fences and repairin' the barn ‘cept we didn't really get no damage last night. I hear people up in Balmer done lost their talking picture boxes and something called internet, but I don't know nothin' about that. Us simple Eastern Shore folks...
