I know you guys are probably tired of having non-Esskay gamethreads, given his talent for writing them, but that silly old hurricane has thrown Camden Chat all out of sorts. EME and 2632 are without power and I'm without cable and internet at home, so there is all kinds of lineup shuffling going on here.
The Orioles have already guaranteed a split of their four (once five) game series with the Yankees, and tonight they'll try to win it. Alfredo Simon, who is coming off of an brilliant start in Minnesota, faces off against Freddy Garcia, who is making his first start since going on the disabled list in early August.
Garcia has already pitched twice against the Orioles this season, pitching a combined 12 innings in which he gave up 2 runs on 7 hits while walking four and striking out thirteen. In fact, he's had a pretty good season for the Yankees, with a 3.16 ERA in twenty-one games, all but one of which have been starts.
Simon has yet to face the Yankees this season, and he'll do so tonight with both Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter out of the lineup with injuries. The Orioles send out what has become their regular lineup.
Let's go O's!
