ALDS Game Thread

After a day of rest from one of the most exciting days ever in baseball, we jump into the postseason with the ALDS.

Game 1: Tampa Bay Rays at Texas Rangers - 5:07 p.m. (TBS)

Having clinched a playoff spot with time to spare, the Rangers were able to set up their rotation for the postseason, and the game one start goes to C.J. Wilson. The Rays didn't have such luxury, and so rookie Matt Moore, with just 9.1 major-league innings to his name, has been named as their starter.

This series features two former Orioles, both on the Rangers: Koji Uehara and Mike Gonzalez

The Rays and Rangers played each other nine times in the regular season with the Rays winning four games and the Rangers five.

Game 2: Detroit Tigers at New York Yankees - 8:37 p.m. (TBS)

The AL Central Tigers have their work cut out for them if they want to go to the ALCS. They are the inferior team in this series, but Justin Verlander could be their great equalizer. He starts tonight against CC Sabathia. It's hard to see the Tigers winning this one, but it is just a five-game series so anything can happen. Remember when the Tigers beat the Yankees in 2006? That was amazing.

There are no former O's in this series.

Whatever happens, the Tigers win the battle of the names with both Al Alburquerque and Will Rhymes on their roster.

The Tigers won the season series 4-3.
