So have you guys ever seen the game previews over at Baseball Reference? They're one of my favorite things. They're like Twisted's game previews condensed down into some tables.
Tonight's preview for the Orioles vs. the White Sox tells me that in their last ten head-to-head matchups, the Orioles have a 6-4 record. Suck it, White Sox! It also tells me that tonight's pitcher, Tommy Hunter, has only started against the White Sox twice in his career. One start was good, one start was mediocre. Story of Tommy Hunter's life.
Here's the thing, though. Have you ever even heard of half of these White Sox (at least, before the series started two days ago?) Alejandro De Aza? Dayan Viciedo? Brent Morel? What the heck? Ok, so there's Paul Konerko and sad sad Adam Dunn and that Pierzynski fella, but overall that lineup really isn't very imposing
Pitching for the White Sox tonight is Jake Peavy, who I kind of forgot existed until last night. Peavy has had two pretty good starts this year, one each against the Rangers and the Tigers. Given that he spent most of his career in the NL and most of his time in the AL hurt, Peavy hasn't faced too many Orioles too many times. In fact he's only pitched against the Orioles once and that was in 2007. Will Peavy be able to handle the awesomeness that is Nolan Reimold and Adam Jones and Matt Wieters? I vote no!
Hey, look who's DH'ing! Weird. And look who's batting in front of Reynolds!
