Roster Moves. PANIC!

I miss him already.
I miss him already.

The reliever merry-go-round continues to spin, as Zach Phillips, just recalled yesterday, has been sent back down to AAA Norfolk. Phillips pitched 2/3 of an inning last night and was responsible for giving up one of Josh Hamilton's four home runs.

Replacing Phillips on the roster is Steve Tolleson, a utility player who has been at Norfolk all season. Tolleson is primarily an infielder, but he can play outfield in a pinch. And the Orioles might need him to, as OF Endy Chavez is expected to land on the disabled list with a strained oblique.

To make matters worse, the O's best starting pitcher so far, Jason Hammel, will miss at least one start with a sore knee. That start, of course, is tomorrow. If Chavez is indeed DL'd, look for Tommy Hunter to get called up to take Hammel's place (Hunter can only get called back in less than ten days to replace someone on the DL).

Meanwhile, Dana Eveland is still expected to start on Friday.

So, do you have all that? The outfielder who can't hit has been replaced with an infielder who can't really hit and the starting pitcher who has been awesome will probably be replaced with a starting pitcher who has not.

Yeah! Orioles Magic! Feel it happen.

Edit! Per EME in the comments, Hunter would be short rest so it might be Brad Bergesen making Hammel's start. Even better!
