As previously mentioned on this site, I got the chance to interview Cal Ripken today. The interview time allotted was ten minutes, and while Cal and I spoke for over eight minutes, once we edited it down it comes in at just over five. I try to be professional when it comes to a lot of the stuff I get to do through Camden Chat, but I'm not gonna lie, I was nervous to talk to this Orioles legend. I'm hopeful that in the future I'll have more opportunities for interviews and when I get back around to Cal again I'll be a pro.
Cal Ripken was doing some press revolving around the Pepsi Max Field of Dreams, in which MLB fans voted for their favorite AL and NL stars to play in a game later this year. The roster was announced to day and the AL squad included, in addition to Mr. Ripken, Brooks Robinson and Jim Palmer in the Orioles legends category, and Roberto Alomar in the not-a-legend-but-awesome-as-an-Oriole category.
The twist that makes this more than just an old-timers game is that two regular Joes won a chance to play with the teams. If you're interested, you can read about them at the Field of Dreams website, the lucky jerks.
Anyway, without further ado, here is my not-that-long, but I think pretty cool, interview with one Mr. Cal Ripken, Jr.
