Orioles Designate Eveland, Recall Socolovich

Presswire

O's Swap Lefty Eveland for Righty Socolovich

The Baltimore Orioles have designated Dana Eveland for assignment and recalled Miguel Socolovich, the team announced Friday:

Eveland, 28, pitched in thirty-two innings at a 4.73 ERA pace over fourteen appearances this season, giving up thirty-two hits, thirteen walks, seventeen earned runs while hitting three and striking out eighteen. He's been designated two other times this season.

Roch Kubatko of MASN explains the move, saying that Socolovich couldn't be recalled until he spent the required ten days in the Minors:

Socolovich has appeared in two games on the season, pitching four innings and earning a 9.00 ERA in an extremely small sample size. In seven Minor League seasons, he's earned a 3.81 ERA, giving up an average of eight hits and four walks while striking out eight every nine innings.

Baltimore signed Socolovich as a free agent in November 2011 following his tenure in Boston's system.
