Albert Burford, reporter for the Times-Picayune out of New Orleans, is reporting that the Baltimore Orioles first-round draft pick, RHP Kevin Gausman, is seriously considering returning to LSU instead of signing with the Baltimore Orioles.
"This is turning out to be a tough decision, but as of now my heart is still with LSU,” Gausman said. “There are still things for me to accomplish as a Tiger. I still want to play in and win the College World Series, and with a lot of guys coming back next year, I believe we can do it."
Could this be posturing? Perhaps. But with the new CBA rules there isn't as much wiggle room for bonuses, so who knows? The Orioles have until Friday at 5 p.m. to sign Gausman, so I guess we'll all have to wait until then to see what happens.
Hat tip to SBN's LSU blog, And the Valley Shook, for giving me the heads up on this story.
