On this day in 1904, "powered" by two Wee Willie Keeler inside the park home runs, the New York Highlanders handily won a battle between past and future Orioles over the St. Louis Browns 9-1; in 1970, Dave McNally won his 20th game in third straight season; in 1983, the Birds beat the Blue Jays 7-4 in extra innings when Tippy Martinez picked of three Blue Jays in the top of the 10th and emergency catcher Lenn Sakata hit an Earl Weaver Special in the bottom of the inning; in 2002, the O's were swept by the Blue Jays in a doubleheader, starting a monumental end of the season slide.
