Who's hot and who's not for the Baltimore Orioles:

Rotation

Zach Britton Dropped back-to-back solid starts before yesterday's stinker. First start of the week yielded 8Ks over 7 innings. Yesterday's started yield 5 ERs and 5 BBs over 3.1 innings.

Wei-Yin Chen Has gotten homer-happy of late.....that's not good news for the Orioles.

Miguel Gonzalez The line for his start in Toronto looks pretty bad, but it was negatively affected by a bloop hit and some inherited runners scored.

Jason Hammel
Very solid in his first start after a lengthy DL stint. Took a shot off the elbow and still gutted out 5 good innings.

Joe Saunders
Allowed two runs over 5.1 innings, including two walks and two strikeouts.
Bullpen

Jake Arrieta Equally unimpressive in his first action since early July as he was before he was sent down to AAA in the first place.

Luis Ayala Saw some action in two games, both losses. Was nothing special in either game.

Kevin Gregg Still bad at pitching.

Tommy Hunter He was actually pretty solid in relief.

Icon_dash_medium

Jim Johnson A bit rocky, but got the job done.

Steve Johnson Some solid relief innings. Totally possible he gets a start this week if the O's plan to give Chen extra rest.

Icon_dash_medium

Brian Matusz Not really sure what to say here.

Darren O'Day He's been really good lately. Really good.

Zach Phillips Here to provide depth, but lining up alongside Kevin Gregg in mop-up duty.

Pedro Strop Not stropping opposing hitters dead in their tracks like he was earlier in the season. Here's hoping he gets that figured out.

Chris Tillman DNP

Randy Wolf Better than than his final line suggests. He had at least two strikeouts that weren't.....
Lineup

Robert Andino The good news is that two of his three hits this week were homers. The bad news is that he only had three hits in 20 ABs. Solid defensively.

Xavier Avery Saw one AB yesterday. Bound to get some more opportunities with Nicky out for the remainder of the regular season.

Icon_dash_medium

Wilson Betemit Also in line to get some more opportunities with Nicky out. Serviceable DH depending on who is pitching....

Icon_dash_medium

Chris Davis Average at the plate, but did hit his 24th homer of the year and walked twice. Will get some outfield reps.

Icon_dash_medium

Ryan Flaherty One AB.

Lew Ford Only played in two games but was pretty huge in the one full game he did play.

J.J. Hardy He's been surprisingly good at the plate lately.

Adam Jones Eleven for 28 in the last seven days with 3 homers and 2 doubles. Solid!

Manny Machado Hit for the cycle this week with a solid 8 for 28 at the plate.

Red-cross-icon_medium

Nick Markakis If ever there was time for the red cross, it's now. Hitting extremely well atop a lineup about to see its first meaningful action in years and he breaks a thumb. You'll be missed, Nicky.

Nate McLouth Hit 8 for 22 this week. Needs to step up big with Markakis shelved and will certainly see his opportunities.

Omar Quintanilla Still anonymous.

Mark Reynolds Five of his 7 hits this week were homers.

Icon_dash_medium

Taylor Teagarden Going to see limited action with the O's chasing a playoff spot.

Icon_dash_medium

Steve Tolleson Sorta surprising to see him as the DH in yesterday's game.

Matt Wieters Not the best week for Wieters. O's really need his bat to come around here.
