Spring has officially arrived (as of 7:02 am, EDT). And the WBC is over and done with. Congrats to Dominicana for their sterling performance. Pedro Strop was rather impressive, pitching 6.2 IP while allowing but 3 hits, 0 walks, 0 runs and striking out 7. Take a day or two off to celebrate and savor the victory, Pedro. But get back to O's camp soon! We miss you!

Gausman to the bullpen? Say, wha?

The Baltimore Orioles have 10 potential starters in camp - MLB News | FOX Sports on MSN

Welp, Gaus is on the national radar now. The donuts story was cute. But I prefer the ones about him dominating Red Soxs.

Camden Depot: A Closer Look at the Fifth-Starter Battle

It's the story du jour nowadays.

Orioles' Jonathan Schoop will likely play shortstop at Triple-A after performing well in WBC - baltimoresun.com

I like that the club wants to keep him at SS. Let him play there till he shows he can't handle it. But I think I'd prefer he was sent back to Bowie. At some point I want to see him do more than just hold his own vs. older, more experience competition. I want to see him dominate somewhere.

Nice to see the Sun reaching out to other sources of baseball knowledge, such as with their Blogger interview series (in which our Fearless Leader, Stacey, just participated). Or such as with this interview which tries to glean a better understanding of what the Stats community is really saying with their projections.

Fantastic article which delves into some actual data regarding Bundy's and other O's pitcher's time to the plate as well as catcher throwing times.

Nice little profile of O's Head Groundskeeper, Nicole McFadyen.

The Miguel Sano Story by Guagua Productions — Kickstarter

Though I've yet to watch it, I've heard nothing but rave reviews for the documentary, 'Pelotero'. This is a Kickstarter campaign to fund a sort of sequel to that.

Happy birthday to Manny Alexander. The one-time hot prospect turns 42 today. And happy 48th birthday to Chris Hoiles! Probably my favorite 90's era Oriole. And the O's got him in a trade with the Tigers for an old Fred Lynn!

On this day in 1995, the Orioles canceled all remaining Spring Training games due to a refusal to use replacement players.
