Around the Minors: 5/28/13

The affiliates go two for five tonight, with Norfolk and Bowie winning, the Keys being swept in a doubleheader and the Shorebirds also falling.

Norfolk won a crazy one, 10-8. Jair Jurrjens gave up 4 ER in 6 IP on 8 hits and a walk, striking out 3 with a GB/FB of 5/6. Ryan Flaherty went 2-5 with a homer and a K. LJ Hoes went 2-4 with a walk, a K and a SB. Xavier Avery went 1-3 with a double, a walk and a K.

Bowie won 1-0. Jacob Pettit pitched 8 shutout innings, scattering 4 hits and a walk, striking out 5 with a GB/FB of 9/7. Henry Urrutia went 1-3. Ty Kelly went 0-4 with a K.

Frederick lost game 1 17-5. Tim Berry gave up 8 ER in 1 IP on 8 hits and a hits batsman, walking none and striking out none. He faced 7 batters in the second without recording an out. It will be interesting to see how he rebounds. Christian Walker went 1-3 with a double, a walk and 2 strikeouts. Brenden Webb went 2-3 with a triple.

Frederick lost game 2 1-0. Trent Howard pitched 4 scoreless, allowing 2 hits and three walks, striking out 1 with a GB/FB of 4/4. Christian Walker went 1-3. Brenden Webb went 0-3 with 2 Ks. Nicky Delmonico did not play in either game.

Delmarva lost 7-4. Matt Taylor had his roughest outing of the season, giving up 5 ER in 5.2 IP on 4 hits and 5 walks, striking out 3 with a GB/FB of 9/3. Lex Rutledge had a clean sheet in one inning, with a GB/FB of 2/0. Torsten Boss went 1-5. Joel Hutter went 2-3 with a walk and a K. Gregory Lorenzo went 2-4 with a double. Rod Bernadina went 1-4 with a walk. Lucas Herbst went 0-5 with 3 Ks.
