Rotation |
Jake Arrieta |
Got one start in place of a sick Hammel and didn't make it through 5 innings. Ended up right back on the bus to Norfolk. |
Zach Britton |
After a number of decent starts at AAA, Britton got the call to replace Kevin Gausman in the rotation. He actually held his own through 5+ innings, although he walked 3 and struck out just 1. He did, however, earn another start and is the likely guy for tonight's game. |
Freddy Garcia |
Pretty sure this experiment is over. Clear that the O's could use some help in the rotation. |
Miguel Gonzalez |
Quality start, O's lose. MiGo has turned in a QS in all four June starts so far, but the O's couldn't win this one. Three ER on three hits over 7.1 innings. |
Jason Hammel |
A decent effort of 4 ER on 4 hits though 6 innings. Seven strikeouts (to one walk) was a positive sign, but the two homers allowed wasn't. |
Chris Tillman |
Shortest start in the month of June still resulted in a win. Tillman went 5 innings, allowing 3 ER on 7 hits. Like most Tillman starts, it was inefficient, but it was clear that he didn't have his best stuff from the beginning. |
Bullpen |
Tommy Hunter |
TGB |
Jim Johnson |
It's usually a sign of a bad week when your closer gets just 1 inning of work. |
Brian Matusz |
He's been pretty terrible for the entire month of June. |
T.J. McFarland |
Not one of his best outings. Got an extended outing thanks to a poor Garcia start, but he immediately allowed inherited runners to score before giving up a number of additional runs himself. |
Darren O'Day |
Allowed his first runs since the beginning of May. Can't honestly say he looked as sharp as he normally does. |
Troy Patton |
Only member of the bullpen to pitch more than 1 inning and not allow any runs. On a solid run after a couple of abysmal weeks. |
Pedro Strop |
One has to imagine he's pitching his way off of the big club. |
Catchers |
Taylor Teagarden |
Two hits this week and both were homers. Tea for two! He even threw out a would-be base stealer for good measure. |
Matt Wieters |
Watching him swing the bat is getting maddeningly frustrating. |
Infielders |
Alexi Casilla |
Saw action simply as a defensive replacement. |
Chris Davis |
Continued his insane run with an additional 4 homers (only had 8 hits this week) and 10 RBI. Six of his 8 hits went for extra bases. |
Ryan Flaherty |
He actually was really good at the plate this week. He's got a 5 game hitting streak going and blasted three homers. |
J.J. Hardy |
Hardy had a solid week as well, going 7-23 (.307) with 2 homers. |
Travis Ishikawa |
Likely just here to spell Davis at first from time to time, but it's hard to imagine him hanging around once Betemit/Roberts returns. |
Manny Machado |
Pretty average week for him at the plate, although he took his first walk since the beginning of June. Commited his 5th error on the year and now has as many errors as homers. |
Danny Valencia |
0-3 |
Outfielders |
Chris Dickerson |
Two hits on the week and both came in the same game. |
Adam Jones |
Okay in the Detroit series, but only 2 hits and 4 Ks against Toronto. |
Nick Markakis |
Although he picked up two doubles in yesterday's game, Nick struggled through the week, picking up just 5 hits in 22 ABs (good for a .227 BA). |
Nate McLouth |
Struggled a bit in early June, but had a resurgence last week with a 9-26 performance at the plate. |
Disabled List |
Wilson Betemit |
No further updates. |
Wei-Yin Chen |
He should be starting a rehab assignment this weekend, which would be huge for a rotation starting AAA guys and Freddy Garcia with regularity. |
Steve Johnson |
Started throwing again. |
Nolan Reimold |
Continuing his rehab assignment |
Brian Roberts |
Good news! Expected to start a rehab assignment tomorrow! |
