Around the Minors: 6/5/13

The affiliates go three for four, with the Shorebirds game suspended and the first DSL Orioles either not playing or the box score not being reported. Let's take a look at the performances of the prospects, as Eduardo Rodriguez and Zach Britton take the mound, and Christian Walker is always getting to first base, at the very least!

Norfolk won 8-7. Zach Britton had a really nice start, giving up 2 ER in 7 IP on 7 hits and a wild pitch, striking out 6, walking none, posting a GB/FB of 10/2. That is six earned runs over his last 25 innings for him with a K/BB of 21/9. I know, selected end points and small sample size. LJ Hoes went 1-3 with 2 walks. Xavier Avery went 2-6 with 2 Ks and a throwing error. Brandon Wood went 0-3 with a walk.

Bowie was shut down, losing 6-0. Eddie Gamboa gave up 4 ER in 6 IP on 9 hits and a walk, striking out 4 posting a GB/FB of 8/3. Henry Urrutia went 0-4 with 2 Ks. Ty Kelly went 1-3 with a walk and a K.

Frederick walked off tonight, winning 2-1. Eduardo Rodriguez had another fine performance, yielding 1 ER in 7 innings on 6 hits (1 HR) and a walk, striking out 6 with a GB/FB of 9/2. Jesse Beal followed him up with 2 scoreless, though he allowed a hit and walked two, striking out 2 with a GB/FB of 2/1. Nicky Delmonico went 0-3 with a walk. Christian Walker went 2-2 with 2 walks. He has reached base in 9 of his last 13 plate appearances.

The Shorebirds were suspended after 3. Juan Guzman allowed a hit and 3 walks in 3 scoreless innings, stiking out 1 with a GB/FB of 3/1. Adrian Marin went 0-1. Joel Hutter went 1-1 with a double. Lucas Herbst 1-2 with a K and a CS.

Despite being 1 hit, the other DSLers won 2-0. 19 y/o lefty Johalis Pacheco struck out 3 in 3 IP, allowing 2 hits. Ademar Rifaela went 0-3 with a walk and a CS.
