Around the minors - 6/7/13

The Bowie Baysox, Frederick Keys, and the Delmarva Shorebirds were all rained out last night. That leaves the Norfolk Tides and one of the Dominican Summer League teams in the mix.

Norfolk Tides 2, Louisville Bats 1

Josh Stinson started for the Tides and pitched 6 1/3 innings of one-run baseball. He gave up eight hits, six of which were singles, and the only run he allowed was on a solo homer to Neftali Soto. Though he did give up a lot of hits, Stinson recorded ten outs on the ground vs just two in the air, which is pretty nice. He also struck out 5.

Andy Loomis, Jon Rauch, and Jairo Asencio each pitched in relief. Loomis pitched to three batters and retired them all while Rauch and Asencio gave up one hit each.

The Tides hitters couldn't do much with Bats starting pitcher Yohan Pino. The scored a solo run in the third inning when Xavier Avery singled, stole second base, and scored on a single by Jason Pridie. Pino came out of the game after six innings (5 hits, 0 walks, 6 strikeouts) and the Tides scored the go ahead run in the eighth inning off of relief pitcher Jose Diaz. Pridie was again involved, this time hitting a leadoff double and scoring on a single by Zelous Wheeler.

Pridie and Avery were the only Tides with two hits, and Pridie's eighth inning double was the only extra base hit the team recorded.

DSL Orioles2 2, DSL Yankees1 8

Starting pitcher Yezier Marrugo walked four batters in three innings, resulting in five runs (just one earned). He was relieved by Yeraldo Fermin who pitched a pretty good game. 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 5 K.

The DSL O's hitters struck out eight times in five innings against a kid named David Rodriguez. Rockny Martinez, Robertico Medina, and Daniel Fajardo had two hits each. No one on the team drew a walk.

I don't know what happened to the DSL Orioles1 team. They're on the schedule for the day but there was no score on MiLB.com.

Bowie Baysox, Frederick Keys, Delmarva Shorebirds - Rained Out

The Baysox and the Keys will both play doubleheaders tonight to make up for the rainout, and the Shorebirds will play a doubleheader on Sunday.
