Zach Britton |
Overall, his numbers are okay, but the 1:1 K/BB ratio is living on the edge. His inability to get through at least 6 innings is frustrating as well. He did, however, post a 3.38/3.72 ERA/FIP for the week, which isn't bad. Three to four ER in one usually means you left your team in a decent spot to win the game. |
Miguel Gonzalez |
Had a rough first two innings, but really settled down and was money for the remaining four innings. Has allowed 3 ER in each of his last three starts. |
Jason Hammel |
Seems like we're starting to see a bit more of the Hammel we saw last year, which is great. Wednesday's start was among his best in the first half of the season (4 hits, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K over 7 innings). |
T.J. McFarland |
You can make the case for whatever arrow you want here. Going with even since the whole point of him "starting" was due to the Yankees current struggles against LHP and having a rested Gausman in the pen behind him. Gave up 3 ER in 2.2 innings, but he wasn't going past 3-4 innings anyway. Expectations were low to begin with. |

Kevin Gausman |
Came in to relief TJ McFarland and was awesome. Four IP, 3 hits, and 4 Ks. |
Tommy Hunter |
Back to solid relief after a week of homers. Saw almost 5 innings of action and allowed just 1 hit, striking out 5. |
Jim Johnson |
Blown save added to Johnson's struggles this week. He actually came out with more saves than blown saves, but by no means was this a good week for JJ. |
Jair Jurrjens |
Pitched a couple of innings from the bullpen before getting DFA'd to allow B-Rob back on the roster. |
Brian Matusz |
Pretty clear that Buck and Co. also recognized his struggles this month and went back to pitching him in limited situations. |
Darren O'Day |
Allowed homers in back to back appearances for the first time this season. |
Troy Patton |
Pretty limited action for both lefties in the pen. |
Pedro Strop |
Still not good. |
Catchers |
Taylor Teagarden |
Did not receive an AB this week. |
Matt Wieters |
A bit saddening that a 6-22 (.273) week is actually a good week for him. His week included two doubles, a homer, and 3 BB. |
Infielders |
Alexi Casilla |
Pretty limited playing time, but he had a huge home run against the Indians that ultimately capped the win. |
Chris Davis |
"Only" a .250 BA for the week, but 4 of his 6 hits were homers and he totaled 10 RBI. |
Ryan Flaherty |
Flahrt can hit! Deal with it! Wait.....what? When did this happen? |
J.J. Hardy |
Pretty average week. Only 1 XBH. |
Travis Ishikawa |
DFA'd |
Manny Machado |
Still on record doubles pace. #doublesmachine |
Brian Roberts |
Gets the up arrow this week simply for playing in a full game and not, to my knowledge, getting hurt. |
Danny Valencia |
He had a pretty good start, but he's cooled off rapidly. |
Outfielders |
Chris Dickerson |
Didn't get much playing time, but made the most of it, including a 2-4 night against his former team. |
Adam Jones |
Struggled through the week and did not record an XBH. |
Nick Markakis |
Both Markakis and Jones posted 6 hits in almost 30 ABs, although Nicky had a homer and a solid defensive play with the bases loaded. |
Nate McLouth |
Yes, he too had 6 hits in 27 ABs, but he had two homers plus an OF assist. |
Disabled List |
Wilson Betemit |
No updates. |
Wei-Yin Chen |
Pitched a rehab start with AA Bowie and appears on track to return this week. |
Steve Johnson |
He's resumed throwing and could be in line for rehab soon enough. |
Steve Pearce |
Still out with a wrist injury. Has yet to resume baseball activity. |
Nolan Reimold |
He's expected to be activated today or tomorrow. Good news? Who gets sent down? |
