Around the Minors: 7/18/13

The affiliates had another tough day, winning one of eight games on the day today. Christian Walker collected two hits, Adrian Marin homered, and prospects Eduardo Rodriguez and Zach Davies have cromulent performances.

Norfolk lost 6-2. Eddie Gamboa gave up 3 ER in 5.1 IP on 3 hits (1 HR) and 4 walks, striking out 5 with a GB/FB of 4/5, while hitting a batter and throwing a wild pitch. He also committed an error. LJ Hoes went 1-4. Xavier Avery went 0-4 with 2 Ks.

Bowie lost 6-3. Eduardo Rodriguez gave up 3 ER in 5 IP on 4 hits and 5 walks, but he did strike out 7 with a GB/FB of 6/1, mixing in a wild pitch. Christian Walker went 2-4 with a double and a K.

Frederick won 2-1. Zach Davies gave up 1 ER in 5 IP on 3 hits and a walk, striking out 7 with a GB/FB of 4/3. Michael Ohlman went 0-3 with a K. Brenden Webb went 0-3 with a double and a K. Nicky Delmonico DNP.

Delmarva lost 10-1. Luc Rennie's second start went worse than his first, giving up 5 ER in 3 innings on 9 hits (1 HR) and a walk, striking out 3. Adrian Marin went 3-4 with a homer. Torsten Boss went 0-4 with a K. Joel Hutter went 1-3 with a walk.

Aberdeen lost 6-4. Mike Yastrzemski went 2-5 with a double. Hector Veloz went 1-3 with a homer and a walk.

The GCL Birds lost both ends of a doubleheader. They lost Game 1 7-0. Andres Aguilar went 1-3 with 2 Ks. They lost Game 2 6-2. Stephen Tarpley debuted with a clean inning, striking out 1. Josh Hart went 0-2 with a walk. Jonathan Schoop went 2-3 with a homer. Ronarsy Ledesma went 0-3 with 2 Ks.

The original DSLers lost 5-4. Victor Medina went 0-3 with a K.
