No pic of Hobgood in the database. So here's one of Jake Petit.

Bill Vaughan/Bowie Baysox

Charlotte (White Sox) 5, Norfolk 2

For some reason MASN put up a 'Down on the Farm' graphic featuring (RHP) Josh Stinson during last night's game. He's not a prospect in any sense, and his performance this season has been pretty un-noteworthy. Though he had been pitching somewhat better of late, going 26 IP with a 2.42 ERA and 15 Ks to 8 BBs over his previous 4 starts. And that continued somewhat here, as he went 5.2 IP and allowed just 2 ER. He did K 4 but also walked 4, so that certainly played a role in his failing to get through 6 innings. (LHP) Mike Belfiore seems to be either dominant in his outings or a catastrophe. This was an example of the latter as he came on in relief of Stinson and proceeded to allow 3 H (1 HR) and 2 ER over 1.2 IP.

On offense, (LF) L.J. Hoes had a rare night denied access to the basepaths; 0-4 in total. (RF) Eric Thames returned to action after his rehab stint in the GCL and proceeded to go 2-4, w/ a solo HR. Fellow former Mariner (3B) Alex Liddi managed to draw 2 BBs in 4 PAs as well as steal a base. That was about the extent of the offense for the Tides. Old friends Travis Ishikawa (0-3, w/ 1 BB) and Steve Tolleson (2-3, w/ a 2B, a BB, and a SB) hope for a shot with the White Sox now.

Bowie 1, Richmond (Giants) 2. Final 10 innings

(LHP) Jake Petit is the Josh Stinson of AA Bowie. Except older. And Left-handed. But he has been pitching well-ish of late and that continued here as he would go 6IP, 2H, 1BB, 6Ks, 0R. (RHP) Oliver Drake allowed the Flying Squirrels to tie the game in the 8th during his 2nd inning of work. (RHP) Clay Schrader gave up the goose in the 10th, in his 2nd inning of work as well. Walking the lead off batter tends to be an ill-advised course of action in extra innings on the road. The offense took the night off. ( C ) Caleb Joseph managed a 1-4 effort. (1B) Christian Walker, a 1-3, w/ 1 BB.

Salem (Red Sox) 9, Frederick 0

(RHP) Julio Rodriguez continues to struggle: 4.2 IP, 8 H (2 HRs), 2 BBs, and 1 WP lead to 8 ER. For those scoring at home that is now 18 ER in 16 IP. Ouch. There may be some potential there, as he's only 22, but thus far it ain't working w/ Frederick. Send him down to Delmarva and bring up (LHP) Matt Taylor who has certainly earned a shot in the Keys' rotation. In relief of Rodriguez came (RHP) Matt Hobgood, making his Keys debut. And it went swimmingly: 4.1 IP, 2 H (1 HR) and 2 BBs, 1 ER, and 6 Ks with a 4:2 GO:FO ratio. Not bad, kiddo. I still believe. The offense mustered but 2 Hits, none from either (3B) Nicky Delmonico or ( C ) Michael Ohlman. The Keys did, however, draw 6 BBs and Ohlman had one of those.

Savannah (Mets) 8, Delmarva 6

(RHP) Parker Bridwell continues to frustrate. The 8 hits he allowed on the night broke down as such: 3 singles, 3 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 HR. Which is to illustrate that he was getting hit hard. Add in 4 BBs and it's kinda amazing he only gave up 6 ER. He has alternated very good starts with very bad starts over his past 6 outings. So look for a good outing from him next week. (LHP) Lex Rutledge came on in relief and tossed 2.1 innings, allowing 5 hits and a walk, but limiting the damage to just 1 ER.

The offense came to play tonight, pounding out 15 hits, but only 3 for extra bases. (RF) Roderick Bernadina had a breakout game, going 4-5, w/ a 2B and a 3B. Would love to see him bring a strong effort to wind down the season. (1B) Creede Simpson went 1-5, w/ 2 RsBI. (CF) Gregory Lorenzo went 1-4, but strangely did not steal (or even attempt to steal) a base. (SS) Adrian Marin had the night off.

Aberdeen 4, Jamestown (Pirates) 6

Dominican (RHP) Janser Severino is a beanpole. He's listed at 6'2" and 140 lbs! WESTERNIZE THAT DIET! Anyway, he seems to get some decent results in spite. 5 IP allowing 8 H and 4 R (3 ER) with 5 Ks to 1 BB and a 6:2 GO:FO ratio. He also completed the superfecta of hitting a batter, throwing a wild pitch, committing an error, and balking. Fill up that stat line, Janser! (1B) Trey Mancini went 1-4, w/ a 2B and 2 RsBI. (3B) Hector Veloz managed a 1-4 night. (CF) Mike Yastrzemski went 1-4 at the dish, but also notched an OF Assist by gunning a runner down going to 3B.

GCL O's 4, GCL Rays 1

(RHP) Steve 'Spawn' Johnson made his first rehab start and tossed 2 effective innings, allowing just 1 BB while K'ing 3. He'll make his next start w/ Aberdeen. (CF) Josh Hart continues to reach base: 1-3, w/ 1 BB and his 9th SB in 10 attempts. (2B) Jonathan Schoop continues to rehab in the GCL for some reason. Guess they are just being extra safe with him and monitoring his movements closely. He went 1-3, w/ a BB and his 3rd GCL HR. ( C ) Chance Sisco went 2-3, w/ 1 BB and gunned down the only runner who attempted to steal.
