Coming to a rotation near you: it's Mike Wright
Coming to a rotation near you: it's Mike Wright
Bert Hindman/Bowie Baysox

Charlotte (White Sox) 7, Norfolk 5

(RHP) Kevin Gausman got the start and he was about as crisp as a soggy potato chip. 3.1 IP, 5H, 2BBs, and 1 HBP led to 2 ER via 70 pitches. He did K 4 though. A couple relievers let the game get out of hand before (RHP) Manny Delcarman came in for 2 innings of scoreless ball. He allowed just 1 hit and K'd 4. After failing to reach base for the first time since July 7th, (LF) L.J. Hoes reached base 4 times in 5 PAs today: 3-4, w/ 1 BB. That'll do. (RF) Eric Thames continues his hot start with Norfolk: 3-5, w/ an RBI and a Run.

Bowie 5, Richmond (Giants) 5. Game Suspended due to rain.

(RHP) Mike Wright had the right stuff tonight. 6.2 IP, allowing 8 H (1 HR) and 2 ER while K'ing 4 and walking none. DHing today, Caleb Joseph went 2-5 with 1 RBI. (1B) Christian Walker continues to adjust to AA pitching. He went 1-5 with 2 Ks. ( C ) Brian Ward went 1-4 with an RBI and threw out 1 of 2 runners attempting to steal.

Frederick 2, Winston-Salem (White Sox) 3

(LHP) Tim Berry put up a Quality Start, at least according to the technical definition. 6 innings, 3 earned runs via 5 hits (1 homer) and 1 walk. He K'd 4 and induced 10 ground outs to 3 fly outs. Michael Ohlman DH'd and went 1-4. Nicky Delmonico played 1B again and went 0-3 with 1 walk and 2 Ks. (CF) Glynn Davis managed a 1-4 night with the one hit being a Double. (RF) Brenden Webb went 0-3 with 1 walk and 3 Ks.

Savannah (Mets) 4, Delmarva 2

(LHP) Josh Hader has recovered from the brief slump he experienced a couple of weeks ago. Only 4.2 innings today, with 6 hits and 2 walks allowed along with 2 wild pitches. But he didn't allow any earned runs (3 unearned runs) and K'd 6. He's at 81.1 innings on the season now. I wonder how long he'll go? 120 would seem to be about a likely maximum. Just keep giving him 6+ days of rest in between starts and he'll be fine. (LHP) Bennett Parry came on in relief and tossed 3.1 innings, allowing 3 hits (1 HR) and 2 walks while K'ing 2 and picking off 1. Following his 4-5 day yesterday, (RF) Roderick Bernadina went 1-3 with a walk and a stolen base. (1B) Creede Simpson went 1-4 with 2 errors, the latter of which is tough for a 1Bman to do. Especially when both errors were on throws. (SS) Adrian Marin went 0-4. (CF) Gregory Lorenzo went 1-3 with 2 RsBI.

Aberdeen 8, Jamestown (Pirates) 3

(LHP) Mitch Horacek is pitching like a man who deserves a promotion. 6 innings today, 4 hits and 1 walk allowed, 1 earned run, 4 Ks, 7:3 GO:FO, and 1 pickoff to boot. He's K'd 17 and walked just 2 over 23.2 IP so far on the season. (CF) Mike Yastrzemski went 1-4 with a walk, but was CS twice. (1B) Trey Mancini seems destined to join Horacek in any future promotion to Delmarva. He went 3-5, w/ a 2B and 2 RsBI and is hitting .333 / .372 / .459 on the season thus far. (3B) Hector Veloz went 1-4 with a BB, but was picked off 1st also.

The GCL and DSL squads were off today.
