Norfolk 4, Charlotte (White Sox) 1

(RHP) Josh Stinson continued his recent run of successful outings with a 7 inning, 1 run (0 Earned runs) effort. He yielded but 3 hits and 1 walk while K'ing 4. That's 3 straight outings of 7 IP while allowing 3 runs or fewer per. Pretty swell. (RHP) Jairo Asencio pitched a perfect 9th to secure his International League leading 19th Save. And with 2 more Ks notched he now sports a 40 to 7 K to BB ratio. If only the O's bullpen could use some help right now...

On the offensive ledger, (LF) Henry Urrutia had 2 hits in 5 PAs. He also gunned a runner down attempting to advance to 3rd. (RF) L.J. Hoes smacked his 20th Double and drew his 45th BB on the season. He did K twice though, so his K:BB ratio now stands at 48:45.

Bowie 3, Harrisburg (Nationals) 2

(RHP) Mike Wright brought the filth, going 6 innings, 4 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks, and 9 Ks. All 9 Ks were of the swinging variety, including 3 straight to end the 6th inning. And when he wasn't striking batters out he was getting them to ground out, as he recorded 6 ground outs to just 1 fly out on the night. That's a new career high in Ks for Mr. Wright, who at age 23 is having his finest season thus far. 88.2 IP over 17 Starts of 3.86 ERA and 3.30 FIP with a K/9 of 8.6. Naval Academy Grad (RHP) Oliver Drake came on and worked 2 clean innings of relief, K'ing 3 in the process.

(CF) Trayvon Robinson and (SS) Niuman Romero each had 3 hit nights, while Robinson added in 2 SBs to boot. ( C ) Caleb Joseph went 1-4 with a SB of his own. Shocking, I know.

Frederick 4, Lynchburg (Braves) 8

19 year old (RHP) Luc Rennie made his 2nd High-A level Start and predictably got hit around. 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R (4 ER), 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 K. Not certain why this kid skipped over Low-A Delmarva after just 36.1 total IP between the GCL and Aberdeen, but I suppose the O's brain trust are pretty high on this kid. And, frankly, that line isn't terrible considering his age and experience thus far. This could be a stealthy prospect for the org. I'm certainly anxious to get to put some eyes on him and get a gauge for what he's working with.

(3B) Nick Delmonico hasn't played since July 1. Haven't seen word as to why. ( C ) Michael Ohlman produced a 1-3 effort with 1 BB. Though he did commit an Error on a pickoff attempt at 1B. (1B) Christian Walker mashed his 7th HR w/ Frederick and 10th overall on the season. He also committed an Error, missing a catch.

Hagerstown (Nationals) 6, Delmarva 3

(LHP) Matt Taylor with a less than stellar outing. 5 IP, 5 H, 4 R (0 ER), 6! BBs, and 3 Ks, along with 1 WP. After getting 2 groundouts to start the 3rd Taylor walked the bases full before inducing a ground ball to (SS) Adrian Marin who promptly booted the play, allowing 1 run to score and prolonging the inning. 3 straight singles (two of them being infield singles) plated 3 more runs and the damage was done. (LHP) Ashur Tolliver came on in relief and had his own troubles, going 2.1 IP while giving up 3 Hits, 1 BB and 2 ER while K'ing 2. The aforementioned Marin did manage 2 hits on the night, along with 2 Ks. (RF) Roderick Bernadina's miserable season continues: 0-4 w/ 2 Ks.

Brooklyn (Mets) 5, Aberdeen 3

Tandem Start day for the Ironbirds as 21 year old (RHP) Dylan Rheault and 21 year old (RHP) Alex Santana each worked 3 innings. 4 hits, 1 walk, and 1 ER with 1 K for Rheault. 2 hits, 1 walk, 0 runs and 4 Ks for Santana. Neither were helped by their Catching as Austin Wynn allowed 4 SBs on 4 attempts on the night. He did manage a 1-3, w/ 1 RBI at the plate though. (3B) Hector Veloz wore a Golden Sombrero this night.

GCL O's 0, GCL Rays 1 (Game 1); GCL Rays 6, GCL O's 7 (Game 2)

(CF) Josh Hart went a combined 0-5, w/ 3 Ks, 2 BBs, 2 SBs, and 2 Runs. (SS) Justin Viele went 4-7, w/ 1 HR, 1 SB, and 2 Ks. Local product Alex Murphy went 1-4, w/ his 1st professional HR. Former Indy League Knuckleballer (RHP) Zach Staniewicz started Game 1 and pitched 4 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 BB, 1 ER, 1 WP, and 2 Balks while K'ing just 1. (RHP) Jonatan Isenia pitched a clean inning, striking out 1.

DSL D-backs 0, DSL O's 4; DSL O's 4, DSL Mets 0

21 y/o Dominican (LHP) Wilmer Aquino pitch 8 scoreless, K'ing 8 while walking 2 and yielding 5 hits in the D-backs game. In the Mets game 3 pitchers combined to K 7 while walking 1 and allowing just 3 hits. (1B) Victor Medina went 1-4, w/ his 1st HR. (CF) Alexander Mercedes went 1-4, w/ a 3B. (CF) Daniel Franco went 1-4, w/ 2 Ks. (2B) Felipe Betemit went 0-3, but did manage to drive in 2 and score 1 Run.
