Game 91: Texas Rangers (52-37) @ Baltimore Orioles (49-41), 7:05pm

The Orioles will try to turn the tide on their recent slide, but they need to beat another lefty.

Patrick Smith

Yes, the Orioles are facing ANOTHER lefty tonight. This one is Martin Perez, who has a 1.85 ERA. He has only made four starts so far this year, but he's been pretty good. He hasn't yet pitched really deep into a game, but maybe tonight's the night! I kid, I kid. The Orioles are totally capable of winning tonight's game. We all know it. They just need to get it together.

The O's have a lefty of their own pitching, Zach Britton. It turns out Britton won't be a casualty of Wei-Yin Chen's return, at least not yet. They'll hold off until the All-Star Break on that decision. Britton has just one career start against the Rangers, back in 2011. It was a good one as he pitched 7 2/3 innings and didn't give up any runs. But it was 2011, so it's not only a small sample size, it's a long time ago.

Last time out, Britton was able to escape the sixth inning without completely imploding, and ended up with seven innings pitched against the White Sox with two runs allowed. The Rangers are a completely different offense, of course, but maybe Zach will keep on his good roll.
