Behind a really strong pitching performance by Tsuyoshi Wada, Norfolk won 3-0. Wada scattered five hits and a walk over six and two thirds, striking out 10 with a GB/FB of 4/2. Jonathan Schoop went 0-4 with a K. Xavier Avery went 1-3 with a double and a K. Not sure why he was not traded to the Reds, but the suspense obviously thickens.
Bowie lost 6-2. Clay Schrader went 2 scoreless with a walk and a K. Christian Walker goes 1-4 with 2 strikeouts.
Frederick lost 6-2. Zach Clark, a Maryland product who was not traded today, gave up 4 ER in 4 IP on 4 hits and 6 walks, striking out 3 with a GB/FB of 5/2. Lex Rutledge gave up 1 ER in 2 IP on 2 hits, striking out 3, walking none with a GB/FB of 2/1. Thoughts on Ashur Tolliver? With 3 more shutout innings, the 25 y/o lefty has a 30/11 K/BB and a 2.43 ER across 33.1 IP in Delmarva and Frederick this year. The Orioles gave him a ton of money a few years back. And he throws with a left hand, so I always hold out hope. But I'm a sucker for it. Michael Ohlman DNP.
Delmarva lost 4-3. Speaking of guys who just toy with us, Parker Bridwell tossed six scoreless, allowing 4 hits and 3 walks, striking out 3 with a GB/FB of 7/6. Mychal Givens retired all six men he faced, striking out 4 of them. Byron Capellan goes 0-4 with 3 Ks. Joel Hutter goes 3-5. Lucas Herbst went 1-5.
Aberdeen won 2-0. Sebastian Vader goes 8.1 innings, yielding six hits and a walk, striking out 2, with a GB/FB of 14/5. Mike Yastrzemski goes 1-2 with a walk, a K, a HBP, a CS and was picked off. Hector Veloz DNP, managing not to strike out.
