Around the minors 8/15/13: Zach Britton leaves Norfolk start after being hit by batted ball

The Orioles minor league affiliates did well Thursday night, led by a nice performance by Eduardo Rodriguez. Zach Britton and Zach Davies are a mixed bag, and Cuban international Dariel Alvarez takes to Frederick County.

Norfolk won 7-2. Zach Britton went 5.2 IP, giving up 2 ER on 6 hits and 4 walks, striking out 6 with a GB/FB of 5/2. Jonathan Schoop went 1-3 with a walk and a K.

Bowie won 4-2. Eduardo Rodriguez has experienced some bumps in the EL, but Thursday was a performance to build on as the season winds to a close. He went 5 scoreless giving up 4 hits and a walk, striking out 8 with a GB/FB of 3/2. Oliver Drake gave up an ER over 2 IP on 3 hits and 2 walks, striking out 2. Wilson Betemit went 2-3 with a walk and a K. Caleb Joseph went 2-4 with a homer.

Frederick lost 5-4. Zach Davies gave up 3 ER in 5 IP on 8 hits (1 HR) and 3 walks, striking out 5 with a GB/FB of 5/3. DHing tonight, Michael Ohlman went 2-4 with a walk and 2 Ks. Debuting in the Carolina League, Dariel Alvarez went 2-5.

Delmarva lost 9-1. Adrian Marin went 0-3 and was removed from the game. Gregory Lorenzo went 1-4 with 2 stolen bases. Lucas Herbst went 1-4 with a K.

Aberdeen won 10-6. Mike Yastrzemski went 0-3 with 2 walks, 2 Ks and a stolen base. Trey Mancini went 1-4 with a K. Hector Veloz went 1-4 with a walk and 2 Ks.
